Scarlett Johansson, Johnny Vegas want goat for Christmas!

Robert Pattinson has sent reports of romancing Twilight co-star Kristin Stewart backpacking after declaring he is single.

The actor cleared the mist surrounding his love life, saying the much-hyped relationship was the work of the media.

“I am single … almost everything that came out about my private life is false,” the New York Daily News quoted Pattinson as telling Italian Vanity Fair.

“”I think it happens because, really, there is not much to say about what I’m doing.

“While I am filming, I live practically [like a] recluse in [a] hotel. I come out only to work, and sometimes to go out for dinner. But, if you read the magazines, it seemsScarlett Johansson and Johnny Vegas both want the same present this Christmas – a goat.

The actress and the comedian were doing their bit to encourage people to choose an alternative stocking-filler for the festive period.

Oxfam Unwrapped urged gift-givers to shell out money on things such as a goat for a needy family in the developing world, training a teacher and school books.

“I spent an amazing day with some young girls at an Oxfam-funded school in Uttar Pradesh,” the Mirror quoted Johansson as saying.

“They were all from the lowest Dalit caste, but their education had filled them with ambition, self worth and hope for the future.

“Every child deserves that kind of start in life – and Oxfam Unwrapped gifts like desks and chairs, school equipment and even the school buildings themselves can provide this. And that’’s why I am asking for us all to give these kinds of gifts this Christmas,” she added.

Vegas also said: “I can honestly say I”d love to get an Oxfam Unwrapped goat for Christmas. It’’s the perfect gift – something that is sure to be appreciated, and can potentially even change people’’s lives. Really, who needs more stuff?

“But what we all do need is that warm glow of knowing that we”ve done something that has really helped another person somewhere in the world.”that I have a frantic high life,” he added.

Only big stars get written off: Preity Zinta

New Delhi: No Bollywood hits, walking on the wrong side of the thirties and business on track. A perfect recipe to be discharged for an actress.

Criticism can wonder about the future of Preity Zinta, but the beauty of dimples says it bothers him that "only write off the big stars."

"I've been here for ten years and there have been three times in my career I have withdrawn. And it is not me. It has happened with Mr Bachchan. Shahrukh was canceled. Aishwarya was canceled.

"I think only when you're a big star is that you write them off. That's a positive thing," Preity told the news agency in an interview.

The 34-year-old actress, whose last screen appearance was a cameo in the box Salman Khan, starring Dudley's office, "Mr. and Mrs. Khanna, has not enjoyed a "happening" year.

He was also seen in "Heroes" does not create any magic either. And for most of the year was busy handling Preity his IPL team 'Punjab Kings Eleven' co-owner with her former boyfriend Ness Wadia.

"I do not take my rest of the films in the negative. I had got involved with IPL and was a big investment for me.

"I was building a great property for me. But he miscalculated. I thought I could understand the business in 6 months. But that was not the case and 6 months became 18 months," said the actress, who was in the city as the brand ambassador Oil Dabur Vatika hair.

So do you agree that 2009 has not been a fruitful year for his career as an actress, and Pat comes the reply: "I also did Deepa Mehta's Heaven on Earth", which I won for best international actress, who noncommercial winning Bollywood actress.

So that makes me feel good. "

Preity, who won the award for Best Actress at the 2008 Chicago International Film Festival "Heaven on Earth ', is pleased that IPL is back in the country and so is that with direct its' Har Pal', directed by National winners Jahnu Barua to see a unique chemistry between Preity and Shiney Ahuja.

" 'Har Pal' is very contemporary. Everybody thinks it is very serious and intense movie. But it is not. It's very funny and very commercial," said the actress.

She could have been out for long, but feels honored that his friends in the film industry have welcomed with open arms.

"I feel very fortunate to work with filmmakers who have always supported me when I had no support," Preity said.

But the disappearance of the films has certainly been the talk of the tinsel town, "My friends in the industry to make fun of me saying, 'Oh Preity has done much money he is not interested in movies from now", "Preity he joked.

"But I'm prepared mentally. Everything is ready. IPL will be held in India. I am ready to work again with total commitment. In 2010 I will be working back to back in a couple of projects. Are you going to see a lot me now, "said Preity.

Swinton nearly overpowers 'Julia'

Obviously, any actor who dares to take the lead role in "Julia''-a self-destructive alcoholic entangled in a kidnapping plot disastrously wrong - let them not be shy. Tilda Swinton plays the opposite trend, however: She's Bird compelling film Flower of Paradise, and in Erick Zonca's white-knuckle thriller of character, she approaches the removal of the film itself.

JULIA

Director: Erick Zonca

Written by: Zonca and Aude Py

Cast: Tilda Swinton, Aidan Gould, Saul Rubinek, Kate del Castillo

In: MFA, today and various dates through December 13

Duration: 138 minutes

Rating: R (strong language, some violent content, brief nudity)

When we meet Julia Harris, carousing with a group of businessmen during the happy hour, ugly light of dawn reveals a much more pathetic. Fueled by a fury formed equally self-hatred, cynicism, bitterness, and terror, Julia has no time for the 12-step topics offered by the sponsor Mitch (Saul Rubinek). She is a disaster waiting to happen - is happening right now.

Another member of the program, an emotionally unbalanced woman named Elena (Kate del Castillo), asks Julia to help her kidnap her 8-year-old son of his wealthy grandfather, outside of work (again) and desperate, Julia decides to take matters into their own hands. The scenes in which she swoops and spirits away the young Tom (Aidan Gould) in a quiet forest swim sudden lurch to the danger surprising. We do not know how Julia is able to go, and she did.

These sequences are on the borderline surreal - Swinton flame red hair from behind a black plastic mask - and work only because the actress is so bravely sentimental. Every star was a sign of weakness of Julia, a redemption comes, try to do as we like. Swinton is connected to push the contrary, we do not like Julia and still feel compassion for her living, human failings.

Zonca had a dazzling debut in 1998 with "The Dreamlife of Angels,''a less compelling follow-up (2000's" Le Petit Voleur'') and quickly disappeared from view. Loosely inspired by the 1980 John Cassavetes film "Gloria,''this return to form is not so much as a revival, in English, in Los Angeles in the hard-edged modern noir. The colors burn" Julia,''and vanishes the camera lurches, along with heroin, somehow managing to maintain their focus on the relentless as the story falls through the Mexican border and a series of increasingly violent confrontations with vicious men winding.

The electrifying film that can not be completely satisfactory. Zonca and his star does not meet the rules of Hollywood, which is good (that keeps us off balance sheet) and to a lesser extent (sometimes the movie does not seem sure where it goes). If Julia''tiene a weakness, ironically, is very Swinton strength: You might find it hard to believe that a woman with fierce determination as he could afford to have become a drunken wretch.

She remains a pretty good actress - a great, in fact - to maintain the tension of the film together and to exceed the mark of two hours, and gets off a monologue in which few can see the terror of the once brilliant Barfly who can not admit the game is over. However, a control freak Swinton playing a hopeless case and that the paradox is hardly reaching the end credits alive.

The Pink Lady' by Sally Denton

Richard Nixon could have ended the offer Helen Gahagan Douglas for the U.S. Senate, but a biography shows that happened to carry the torch on behalf of many progressive programs.
By Tim Rutten

It's funny how history often leaves us a legacy to the legendary figures devoid of personality.

Helen Gahagan Douglas, once a champion of progressive politics in California and a stalwart of the Congress of New Deal of Franklin Roosevelt, is a name. To the extent that is now remembered, is the victim of Richard M. Nixon 's notoriously dirty 1950 campaign for U.S. state Senate seats.

"Sally Denton The Pink Lady: The Life of Helen Gahagan Douglas" does an admirable job, although sometimes unnecessarily breath to restore beef and tendons of a remarkable woman and political figure, which stands as a kind of archetype of the day Hollywood celebrities are involved today.

Douglas was born at the turn of the century and died in 1980. He was raised in New York the daughter of wealth and privilege who challenged his domineering father, but loving and gave up a promising academic career of a successful career as an actress on Broadway and, later, as an opera singer in Europe. After the 1929 crisis, Americans returned to the stage and met and married American actor Melvyn Douglas.

As a strong supporter of the New Deal, Gahagan Douglas became one of the close friends of Eleanor Roosevelt, and was elected as the second representative of the Congress of California women. In Washington, he became not only a confidant of the two Roosevelts, but also the lover of a rise and Democratic congressman from Texas named Lyndon Johnson.

In 1950, against all advice serious, Douglas decided to run for U.S. Senate against GOP Rep. lifting fierce youth with a taste for red-baiting. Nixon and his political mentor, Murray Chotin, turned the campaign into a virtual compendium of dirty tricks, causing not only unfounded fears about the loyalty of Douglas, but also anti-Semitism, because her husband was Jewish.

What ultimately redeems "The Pink Lady", as the biography is the compelling narrative propulsion of Denton and obvious affection by the author that his protagonist, however allows a series of miniatures sentimental. Thus: "Helen and Melvyn rarely saw each other during his years as a congressman, though often talked on the phone - more about politics and the logistics of raising emotions. His departure - or agreement - it seemed more serious concern Melvyn what Helen did. "I miss his intelligence, his quiet understanding," she wrote, "and I miss him, too, the sense and the ceaseless noise that sometimes disrupt the atmosphere. It all adds up to a piece of my existence that is irreplaceable. ""

There is real pathos there, and real pride here:

"In the 1940s, when gold Gahagan Douglas of the New Deal was outmoded, and his quixotic idealism was too loud for the new era of pragmatism. Happily not respond to the changing mood of America, which increasingly looked like a caricature of an earlier era, an ideologue of the celebrity who had lost his bond with the approval of his mentor and protector, the FDR. Accustomed to eating at the highest levels of government, was relegated to the periphery of political influence. Despite that seemed oblivious to reality, despite their struggle for independence, much of their power has actually been obtained from the men in her life - her father, Melvyn, FDR and Lyndon B. Johnson. With all gone [of life], who had lost their land. "

Denton is also astute enough to note the factor of class that Greg Mitchell noted in his account of the 1950 Senate campaign, "Tricky Dick and the Pink Lady." Chotin worked to change, not just against the firm of Nixon-communism with liberalism Douglas suddenly suspect, but also the difference between Pat Nixon and Democratic candidate - "housewife professional scratch off. While Pat was the mistress house par excellence, keeping the fires burning for the family, Helen was the ruthless elite who had abandoned her children and husband in their ambition, tomboy and grab for power. "

As Mitchell notes, "the rich of Douglas, the husband of famous Jews rarely around at least one of the boys always seemed to be away at camp or throughout the country, and his elegant home in the hills does not reflect life middle class. Richard Nixon, by contrast, had everything, at least in terms of voter identification: a first home in a community of all Americans, a Protestant Irish woman usually quite at her side when she I was cooking and sewing and home care and their two lovely daughters near. "

Red-bait, a virulently partisan and pro-Republican media darling thoroughbred channel policy Nixon played a role in the defeat of Douglas, as the popular historical memory still recalls stereotyped. So did an emerging middle class of postwar California, whose members imagined for themselves a life very similar to what Nixon and his handlers planned. Finally, the Democratic domestic policy could not have been more complex or unruly.

Sheridan H. Downey, Sen. Douglas decided to challenge state's primaries, was a former follower of Upton Sinclair that I slowly drift to the right: He ultimately withdrew, and adopted a third candidate, the editor of Los Angeles Daily News. Central Valley, which had been a stronghold of the New Deal, was divided by the complex issues of land and water. Douglas broke into a dispute with the construction trades, a powerful part of the basis of manpower for the Democrats. The statewide Democratic ticket that year was headed by James Roosevelt, who ran for governor against Earl Warren, one of the most popular politicians in California history. Roosevelt, moreover, was rejected by the national party establishment because it was part of a "dump Harry Truman's" effort at the national convention before.

Douglas, in other words, entered into a wall of political buzz saws, and one of them happened to have control of 20th century masters of American politics "of dirty tricks - Nixon, operating in a climate of suspicion and resentment as to the extent of his predilections. He was a man, especially at this stage, who never went to the jugular, when a low blow was available.

Speaking of punches below the belt, for an author so concerned about the consequences of Denton innuendo as it is, it is arrogant in the recycling of almost all waste from ever loose talk circulated of organized crime high level of participation in The Angeles and Hollywood, political and economic affairs during the 1950s. Thus, the alleged ties Paul Ziffren late Chicago mob repeated as fact, as is the role of fixer Sidney Korshak as a mafia / labor. Prison Gangster Mickey Cohen boasts of how he and Meyer Lansky helped finance the 1950 Nixon campaign also accepted as fact.

It is very colorful and black humor Los Angeles, but no journalist stream of consciousness has always justified none of it - all the assumptions and the police despite the FBI's investigation. The only issue more exaggerated than the mob and its influence is the average man's sex life.

Shahid Kapur needs extra bodyguards to keep girls away!

Mumbai: everything has a price and Bollywood is no different! With two blockbusters "Jab We Met 'and' Kaminey 'under his belt, dimpled actor Shahid Kapur is the current flavor of Bollywood. The cute looking actor whose next-door boy look can make girls go weak in knees are having a difficult time to meet his fans, as a result, Shahid wants extra bodyguards for all outbreaks.
Recently, while Shahid was shooting with Anushka Sharma for Parmeet Sethi untitled film under the banner of YRF in Bangkok, a group of young Indian left red shy actor versus demand to remove his shirt! Speaking to a news daily, a source said, "Shahid has a huge fan following and is constantly under siege in several places. Sometimes it becomes too dangerous for him. I did not want to cause more problems, the actor has requested extra security.

"Normally, Shahid also has fans waiting outside his vanity van and refused to move until he meets with them. So You Think You Can Dance Top 8: cha-cha crackles, shoulder pops

Season 6 has been a stranger to injury, illness and dropout. It was announced last night with Ashleigh can not dance, because his shoulder out of socket. (And, apparently, got back on the right as a dance of Sydney Bristow.) Russell left the dance with a double for the second time this season. So what to do with Ashleigh? I would have liked to have seen her dancing hip-hop and Bollywood. No reason for Ryan for people to vote for his wife to seal his own fate? I'm sure you noticed that when he told people to vote for her, that someone else had to go home. The? There are no weak links on the left. This is not like last season when Evan did not deserve to go so far as it did on the basis of the dance, but he did it because people liked it. The Top 8 is really solid.

Kathryn McCormick & Ryan Di Lello - Disco

The judges, Adam and Mary, at least, loved the album, but was a little cheesy. There's a fine line between retro cool overdose and sequins and she barely earned on the bright side. Kathryn did a classy album, but Ryan was a bit much. It became a parody of disco. Not that it was bad, but it became more difficult to take seriously the dance. They were good, and very energetic, but have had a better record in the program, such as Nathan Mallea and earlier this season.

Kathryn McCormick & Ryan Di Lello - cha-cha-cha

Now that was a cool cha-cha. Fortunately Ryan left the sequins for a team that should keep daily - a tango hat and suspenders. The dance was fun, it seemed easy, but it was not, and really modern. Moving backwards Kathryn purposes only worthwhile. She did not shake the hips and Ashleigh ago, but that is nonsense. A well-deserved (and luckily not as strong) trip on the train, hot tamale. Probably the best Latin dance hall that have since Joshua and Chelsie's Argentine tango.

Mallea Gray & Jakob Karr - Viennese Waltz

An interesting partnership that really worked. I was disappointed when he left the waltz. They've had some lovely waltzes, but I expected this was incredibly interesting. It was fast, stunning, told a story. Mallea and Jakob are well regarded in the power and ability to kick the leg (Mallea almost can jump as high as most of the boys). And they did that last lap with arms around Jakob and balance in the hips is very cool. Jakob was, as always, perfect, minus a couple of leg movements deliberately looked like a Popeye staggering drunk. I've always been a fan of Mallea, but she has gone in search of talent as a team member of PEP to a very impressive and mature dancer. Her association with Nathan initially seemed perfect, but it could have been an overdose of funny. Since getting associated with Russell, and Jakob now, I have moved up to the top of the pack.

Mallea Gray & Jakob Karr - Broadway

No partners have been so in tune as Mallea and Jakob were in the Broadway routine done to "Easy Street" Annie. They were perfect for the style, though it is sometimes difficult when it portrays a famous Broadway stage by Bernadette Peters and Tim Curry as Rooster and Lily in "Annie", the film had great personalities and a crazy dance to the song, but its choreography was not as complicated. Mallea and Jakob could have used a little more personality, but they reach it. They were the stronger partner of the new night.

Leonora Perez Scott & Legacy - Contemporary

Another unusual type of association. Leonora and legacy gave the perfect routine Travis Wall (quickly mowing over the top choreographers on SYTYCD.) And, amazingly, Travis acknowledged that Legacy can actually turn over parts of his body in a way the human body was destined to spin, and that Leonora is frankly bizarre, and use in routine. Vampire hip-hop last week (a genre that is surprisingly popular on SYTYCD) could have used some of that good sense. Laying out the plot of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Leonora and legacy basically fought to a napkin, but did so with intensity. They are the strongest dancers in the Top 8, and it was fun to see her around.

Leonora Perez Scott & Legacy - Hip-Hop

Speaking of hip-hop vampire ... the Tabitha / Napoleon hip-hop with other foreigners was that the choreography was more culpable than the dancers. Yes, Leonora and Legacy were not quite in tune, but also not given much to do once he turned and showed his true colors. After a while, choreographers contribute more often you should run stories - How many times can a man ignoring a girl as she throws herself into it with ease? - And he was like one of those things where you were trying to diversify, but did not really know what to do with it.

"Ashleigh Di Lello and Russell Ferguson - Hip-Hop

Poor Russell is once again dancing with a stand-in. And, unfortunately, not very inspiring. Maybe she did not want to overshadow Russell too, but Ashleigh would have been better. However, he seemed unflappable Russell. This was not hip-hop luxury, which was about to strike, and nobody hits harder than Russell. If someone is going to have to dance a hip-hop routine with an unknown partner, and do away with him, he was the man for the job. It's a shame because Ashleigh hip-hop very well. Judges, like Russell, and liked it even more for it. Nigel went on a tangent pervert the booty shaking, and then strangely named Russell Sunshine. "This season has been somewhat weak in the hip-hop front. They have not really memorable hip-hop since season 5, the year of Katee, Twitch and Joshua.

"Ashleigh Di Lello and Russell Ferguson - Bollywood

Russell has a major upgrade of its hip-hop-on the stand when his partner arrived in Bollywood. It's nice to see a dance that had no time, involved backstory, but in reality was about to exciting, high energy, complex dance. Russell nailed. Nigel says krumping is drastically different from Russell, but Bollywood is not so different. Both are close to sharp, quick, exaggerated movements. Russell does not excite me just as much as the judges (actually, his praise for him sometimes verges on salivation), but he is an incredible artist and, apparently, a very fast. Ashleigh is very, very bad luck this week. She would have an advantage entering the final out of Bollywood and hip-hop.

The solos:

Jakob:

Not as strong as last week's solo still defy gravity, if not that interesting.

Mallea:

Mallea is a pretty damn good choreographer. Think of all the whole movement, music and clothing.

Legacy:

A lonely much weaker for the estate in which recklessly salsa steps that turns the head, but still has the most impressive tricks any dancer they have had. The phone prop corny, but could only remove Legacy saying, "Is America" and it sounds sweet.

Leonora

Another dancer whose only this week was not as good as last week. She is also choreographer strong, but not as technically gifted as Jakob Kathryn. What sets apart Leonora are extravagant, interesting movements.

Russell:

If you want to highlight, which could also come out dressed as Santa Claus. Accessories for accessories.

Kathryn:

His solos are among the best. She does not look as rushed or manic as the other dancers and has beautiful lines.

Ryan:

His solos just make me laugh. It's not as fun as last week when he went to "Rock You Like A Hurricane", but still a little strange looking, as he danced the girl in the sauce. However, the man made divisions.
Best number of the night: Ryan and Kathryn cha-cha.

The best dancer of the night: Mallea

Who is in trouble? This is a difficult question. Of the boys, could be bequeathed to home. I do not want that to happen, is one of the most exciting dancers to see, but unfortunately did not receive two strong routines on a night that was very, very competitive. I'm leaning toward this Ryan. He's been solid in the competition, but not as exciting as a legacy as impressive as a dancer Jakob or as much of a chameleon as Russell. For girls, I could see that one of them get sent home. Ashleigh perform tonight could work against him, or could get the sympathy vote. Leonora is great, but it does not seem as big of a fan base. Kathryn is a more quiet personality, which unfortunately (and unfairly) may harm you and Mallea seems like the judges said about Nathan, have a polarizing effect on people.

Underwater Data Back Up Theory of Hawaii’s Origin

The prevailing theory on the origin of the Hawaiian Islands is that volcanoes that were formed are the result of a mantle plume, an upwelling of hot material from deep within the earth.

But it is only a theory, one that has had its share of pessimists in recent years.

"People have been waiting for high resolution seismic images," said Cecilia J. Wolfe, University of Hawaii at Manoa. By showing how seismic waves from earthquakes travel through the mantle beneath Hawaii, seismometers that go a long way towards resolving the issue.

One reason that the issue is not resolved is the difficulty of putting seismometers on the sea around Hawaii. That problem has been overcome, using a network of seismographs deployed reimbursement on the seabed by scientists at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Together with data from seismometers on the islands, the data support the idea of a mantle plume beneath Hawaii. It is one of depth, too, that extends at least 900 km in the mantle.

The earthquake waves travel more slowly through areas of high temperature of the mantle. Using data from earthquakes of magnitude 5.5 or greater, the researchers were able to muster the three-dimensional images of the mantle type of a TAC, "said Dr. Wolfe, author of a paper published in Science in the study. These images revealed the presence of the pen.

"Okay, and as deep as we saw, was very exciting," said Dr. Wolfe. "It really supports the idea that the feathers are the characteristics that come from the lower mantle."

For pessimists, Dr. Wolfe is optimistic that with further analysis of the data, the results are maintained. "More people are cautiously supportive," he said.

The polls have been consistently, Martha M. Coakley, the state attorney general, far ahead of his three Democratic rivals in the battle for the seat that Mr. Kennedy held for 47 years. But Ms. Coakley could still lose if your organization does not get supporters to the polls. And with the primary during the next period of high activity between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the mobilization of voters, may be more difficult than usual.

Ms. Coakley has a last-minute push by former President Bill Clinton, who recorded a telephone message on his behalf that was sent to thousands of potential voters in the primaries.

Ms. Coakley and his opponents - Representative Michael E. Capuano, Stephen G. Pagliuca, co-owner of the Boston Celtics, and Alan Khazei, Co-founder of a national service program - feverish campaign until the last minute in hopes of swaying undecided voters, whose numbers are considerable even in the final days of the race .

The winner will face one of two Republicans - State Senator Scott Brown and Jack E. Robinson, a businessman who ran against Mr. Kennedy in 2000 - 19 January. Massachusetts has not sent a Republican to the Senate in 37 years, so whatever Democrat wins Tuesday's primary has the best chance of claiming to seat Mr. Kennedy.

About 37 percent of the state of 4.1 million registered voters are Democrats, and about 11 percent are Republicans. More than half of unwinding, but may vote in the primaries with a Democratic or Republican ballot. William Galvin, Secretary of State of Massachusetts, predicted that turnout could be as low as 10 percent.

Polls suggest that Mr. Capuano, six times, is the most likely rival of Ms. Coakley to manage a turnaround. The two were supported almost as trade unions and the campaign has focused Capuano tenaciously to Get Out The Vote.

Mr. Capuano has billed himself as a connoisseur of Washington wrestler who knows how to do things. Mr. Pagliuca, a wealthy investor, says his business acumen to help solve the economic problems of the state, while Mr. Khazei, whose organization City Year recruits young adults for a year of community service, says it could challenge the status quo as an independent politician.

Ms. Coakley stood out as the only woman in the race, the candidate with the highest name recognition and the first to declare his candidacy after Mr. Kennedy died of cancer on Aug. 25.

While tributes have flowed to Mr. Kennedy throughout the short campaign, none of the Democrats has won a coveted support of a senior member of the Kennedy clan. In the most visible clue that support, Caroline Kennedy attended a fundraiser for Mr. Khazei last month.

Pakistan and the War

President Obama has articulated a very broad strategy for Afghanistan, but there is no chance of defeating the Taliban and Al Qaeda, unless Pakistan's leaders to stop temporizing (and in some cases, work) and enter fully into the fight .
Reviews
After the Sept. 11 attacks, former President George W. Bush tried to bribe the military leaders of Pakistan, who pocketed millions of dollars in U.S. aid and continued to shelter the Taliban. Obama must demand more, while finding ways to strengthen the country's weak civilian leadership and soften the fight against the furies of America.

In a world of difficult diplomatic and strategic challenges, this may well be more difficult for Obama.

In his speech last week, Obama set a bookmark in Islamabad, saying that "we can not tolerate a sanctuary for terrorists whose location is known and whose intentions are clear." Privately, administration officials have been even more explicit, warning that Pakistan's leaders do not act if U.S. attacks even more unmanned aircraft.

These strikes have killed several top militants, but the program is highly unpopular in Pakistan and Mr. Obama should be careful about expanding it. That means three things very carefully the targets, there were no civilian casualties or as few as possible and without advertising.

The drones will not suffice. Civilian and military leaders of Pakistan must finally be convinced that this is not just the U.S. war is essential to their survival. In recent months, the Pakistan Army has gone after the Taliban fighters in the Swat valley and Waziristan. However, the Army leadership refused to strike at the heart of the Taliban command in Baluchistan province.

In part, doubt legitimate fear of retaliation. But there are many officials in Pakistan - and not just the intelligence services - which continue to see the Taliban as an ally and long-term representative to limit Indian influence in Afghanistan. To change that thought, Mr. Obama, you first have to convince Pakistanis that the U.S. is in it for a long time now. The president sent mixed messages in his speech, promising to Pakistan a long-term partnership "built on a foundation of mutual interest, mutual respect and mutual trust" but also suggesting that there will be a rapid reduction of U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

Obama has promised in private Pakistani military and civilian leaders what one attendee described as an association of "unlimited potential" in which Washington would consider any proposal put on the table Islamabad. Congress has already approved an aid package of 7.5 billion U.S. dollars over five years to schools, hospitals and other non-military projects. But this means nothing if it does not follow through and actually funding the program. The White House also should push Congress to pass long-stalled legislation to establish areas of special trade preferences to Pakistan.

Assuming that security needs can be met, President Obama should visit Pakistan to enable it to report directly to the Pakistanis that their fears of abandonment - or domination - are unfounded. Obama also must keep pushing India and Pakistan to improve relations. That may be the best hope for the release of resources and mindset in Pakistan to combat extremists.

Obama told a small group of reporters over lunch at the White House last week that the reduction of tensions between the two nuclear rivals, although very difficult, "is as important as anything in the long-term stability of the region . He's fine.

Pakistan Told to Ratchet Up Taliban Fight

WASHINGTON - The Obama administration is turning up the pressure on Pakistan to fight the Taliban within its borders, warning that failure to act more aggressively in the United States will use force more on the Pakistani side of the border to turn off Taliban attacks "on U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, U.S. and Pakistani officials.

The blunt message was delivered in a tense meeting in Pakistan last month, before President Obama announced its new strategy War, when General James L. Jones, national security adviser to Obama, and John O. Brennan, the head of Counterterrorism at the White House, met with military leaders of Pakistan and its intelligence service.

U.S. officials said the message did not mean an ultimatum by the UN, but Pakistani military products destined for a persecuted reluctant Taliban insurgents "in Pakistan, who are conducting attacks in Afghanistan.

For its part, the Pakistanis interpreted the message as a warning rather bald that unless Pakistan moved quickly to take action against two groups of "Taliban have refused so far to the attacks, the United States was prepared to take action to UNILATERAL Teledirigido Attacks Predator Expand Beyond the tribal areas and, if necessary, to Resume Attacks Special Operations Forces in the country against Al Qaeda and the Taliban leaders.

An administration official, asked about the meeting, refused to go into details, but added quickly, "I think our intentions accurately read."

A Pakistani official who was briefed on the meetings, said, "was Jones's message, whether that aid comes from Pakistan, the United States would have to do it themselves."

U.S. commanders said this year were considering expanding the strikes in the lawless areas of Pakistan buzz, but the general comments of Jones was the first time the United States bluntly said that Pakistan would have to choose between the attacks on leader of the insurgents within the country's borders or step aside to allow Americans to do so.

Security requirements has been a result of an offer of a broader strategic relationship and exchange of intelligence and expanded financial aid not the U.S. military. The politically weakened president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, replied in writing to a two-page letter that General Jones delivered by Mr. Obama. But Mr. Zardari, gave no indication of how Pakistan responds to incentives, Esteban relating to the demands of great intensification of actions against terrorism.

"We have offered a strategic choice," said an administration official said, describing private communications. "And again we have heard almost nothing." Another administration official said, "Our patience is running out."

Asked about the exchange, Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for the White House, said: "We have no comment on the private diplomatic correspondence. As the president has said repeatedly, will continue to work with Pakistan and the international community to improve Military management, and economic capacity of Afghanistan and Pakistan. "

The implied threat not only to ratchet up the buzz strikes, but also the covert release of more U.S. ground incursions would be a substantial increase in anti-terrorist campaign of the administration.

American Special Operations forces attacked Al Qaeda militants in a Pakistani village near the border with in the first publicly acknowledged case of United States conduct Afghanistan in early September 2008, a raid by ground forces on Pakistani soil .

However, the attack caused a political furore in Pakistan with top generals of the country condemned the attack, and the United States backed down What had been planned a series of similar attacks.

During his intensive review of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Strategy, the officials said, Obama came to the conclusion that no amount of troops in Afghanistan will have success in his new mission, if the Taliban could be withdrawn over the border into Pakistan to regroup and resupply. But the government has said little about the Pakistani side of the strategy.

"We concluded early on that what you do with Pakistan, I will not talk much," said a presidential aide said last week. "All it does is to get a backup in Islamabad."

During his speech at West Point last week, Obama said "our success in Afghanistan is inextricably linked to our partnership with Pakistan." But for the rest of the speech referred to the country in the past tense, talking about how "Those who have been in Pakistan have said the fight against extremism is their fight, and that Pakistan is better to do little or seeking accommodation Persons who use violence. "

He never said how his visits to the Pakistani government today, two officials said Obama use that construction in an effort not to alienate the current government or the army, led by General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

Even before Obama announced his decision last week, the White House had approved an expansion of unmanned aircraft program in the CIA and Pakistan's tribal areas, Outside the Law. A missile attack by what is said to be a U.S. drone in the tribal areas killed at least three people early Tuesday, according to Pakistani intelligence officials, reported The Associated Press.

Pakistani authorities for fear of civilian casualties and the emergence of new infringements of national sovereignty, are still in talks with U.S. officials on whether to allow the CIA to expand its missile attacks in Baluchistan, for the first time - a delicate political movement because it is outside and Tribal Areas. U.S. commanders say this is necessary because the Mullah Omar, Taliban leader who ran Afghanistan before the invasion of 2001 and other Taliban leaders are hiding in Quetta, capital of Baluchistan province.

Pakistani authorities also concerned that if the Pakistani Army is aggressively attacking the two groups of most concern to the United States - Leaders' Afghan Taliban and Haqqani network based in North Waziristan - The militants who responded with waves of retaliatory attacks, further undermined the weak civilian government.

Publicly, senior American officials and commanders to take note of that concern. Secretary of State for Hillary Rodham Clinton arrived in Pakistan in late October with the offer of a strategic partnership. But General Jones to Mrs. Clinton followed two weeks later carrying more sticks than carrots, U.S. officials said.

Obama to Spell Out New Job-Creating Initiative

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is promoting support for small businesses and roads, bridges and energy efficient homes in a wide field for the Americans back to work and reverse two-digit unemployment is approaching a quarter-century high, a government official said Tuesday.

In remarks prepared for delivery Tuesday, Obama plans to talk about what you want in the coming weeks and months - mainly Americans more in the workplace and less on unemployment, which now stands at 10 percent.

Obama plans to address three main areas: helping small businesses grow and add staff, modernization of transport infrastructure, and make homes energy efficient, according to an administration official who discussed the speech on condition of anonymity a view a prior unpublished.

He said Obama's statements do not represent the sum of the president's plan, but rather an outline for the way forward. It was a similar line of other White House officials used a preview of the comments.

''We have some way to go,''the White House, Robert Gibbs told reporters Monday. ''The president is not going to reveal the silver bullet idea. ... If you had an idea to do this, I would have taken sometime in the course of 22 meses''desde the recession began.

The White House is considering using a boat suddenly available money left bank bailout by the government to help create jobs. Officials initially looked great the idea of trying to redirect that money into jobs related programs, but have changed their tone after a government report last week showed an unemployment rate slightly lower.

The president told reporters on Monday that there could be approaches selectivos''''para take the money went to support financial institutions seriously weakened. The administration and its congressional allies would have to move through a provision in the legislation of 2008 that require ransom money paid by banks or left to be used exclusively to reduce the federal deficit.

With a tough election year climb, Obama and congressional Democrats want badly to do something about jobs. Convert an unpopular financial rescue program, known as the Relief Program Troubled Assets (TARP), a potentially popular new jobs created has a strong political appeal. Republican critics have described this approach as a backdoor way of the enactment of a second economic stimulus package.

TARP''ha proved much cheaper than we expected, although not cheap,''Obama told reporters at the White House on Monday. ''This means that some of that money may be devoted to deficit reduction. And the question is: is there selective criteria that are consistent with the original objectives of the TARP - for example, ensuring that small businesses are still lending - would be adequate to accelerate job growth?''

It was the clearest sign that the White House might be planning to argue that help unlock credit for small businesses is in line with the original objectives of the proposed bank bailout and therefore a valid expenditure of federal money. Job creation would be a byproduct.

The rescue program, which had a starting price of $ 700 billion, was approved by Congress in October 2008 as the country's financial system teetered on the brink of collapse. The government now estimates the program will cost about $ 200 million less than the 341 billion U.S. dollars from the White House estimated that in August

Person at Woods’s Home Hospitalized

One person was taken from the residence of Florida golfer Tiger Woods to a hospital early Tuesday after emergency services received a 911 call about a medical issue, the local authorities.
It was unclear who had been hospitalized, but there seems to be Mr. Woods. Local news reports described a middle-aged woman with blonde hair is wheeled from an ambulance to the emergency room at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida, within walking distance from the house of Mr. Woods in a luxury subdivision Windermere.

The local television reports said a younger woman with blonde hair was seen driving to the hospital Tuesday morning, just behind the ambulance. Mr. Woods's wife, Elin Nordegren, was seen leaving the hospital Wednesday morning, according to local reports. His mother-in-law, Barbro Holmberg, had been staying at home recently.

The Orange County Fire Department officials refused to disclose the identity of the person taken to hospital, their condition, or why the individual needed medical attention. They said that only responders received the 911 call around 2:36 Eastern time on Tuesday and had left the house by 3:13

"As soon as the cleaning of the information as is consistent with privacy laws, we will disclose it," said Marianne Nuckles, the main fire rescue spokesman.

It was the second time in recent weeks that the authorities were called to the house of Mr. Woods in the dark of night, and the incident seemed likely to renew the intense scrutiny of his personal life. Mr. Woods slammed his SUV into a fire hydrant and a tree on a neighboring property about 2:30 am on Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving. That event triggered a frenzy of media and a barrage of complaints by several women who had relationships with Mr. Woods.

Mr. Woods, who is married, has issued a public apology, but not specific, saying on its website, "I left my family and I regret the violations with all my heart."

Mr. Woods agent, Mark Steinberg, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Health Central Hospital declined to comment, citing privacy laws.

The car driven by the young woman was described as a black Cadillac Escalade, similar to the one made famous in the early morning accident two weeks ago.

The job market seems status quo in the short term.

In the latest attacks, seen as retaliation for the counter offensive of the Pakistani military in South Waziristan, the militants killed at least 45 people in two nearly simultaneous explosions on Monday at the busy market of the moon in the eastern city beautiful Lahore, capital of Punjab province and the second largest after Karachi newspaper Dawn. In August, a suicide bomber killed nine people there.

A city official said the toll could go up to the attacks also wounded dozens of people and caused a huge fire, trapping people. The blasts apparently were detonated by remote control, Dawn.

Lahore attacks are a concern, says the insurgency spread to cities far from areas like Peshawar, another town devastated by violence near the border with Afghanistan and the lawless tribal regions as sanctuaries for hearing Taliban, Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

Also Monday, Peshawar, was beaten again when a suicide bomber exploded outside a court, killing at least five people, officials said. The attack also wounded dozens.

UTSA men cruise past UT-Pan Am

His team and on his way to a 84-58 thrashing of Texas-Pan American, UTSA coach Brooks Thompson share a laugh with Sei Paye-up purposes.

The theme?

"His haircut," Thompson said. "I asked him if he has a girlfriend. He said no, so I was wondering if you ever wondered why".

Thompson's comment has its limits, however. He refused to choose a favorite among high-rise paye Flat-Top and the Mohawk favored by Demarco Stepto.

It was that kind of Monday night at the Call Center: Serious enough to produce a new victory - UTSA seventh in nine games - but loose enough to serve as a prize for one of the best starts in the history of school.

The Roadrunners went 4-0 for the first time, and then 6-1 at the first time since 1988. His current record is the best since 2001.

More telling, that have progressed to the point that Saturday's 61-55 loss to Oklahoma State was seen as a failure, rather than a moral victory.

"We're disappointed," said guard Morris Smith, "because we expect to beat everyone we play."

That was the case against the humble broncs, which came in 1-8. They led briefly to 6-4 before UTSA jump ahead for good with a run of 13-0.

Since there was an opportunity for tinkering, but with a lot of success.

Devin Gibson threw an alley-oop balloon Terry Fields, one of his six assists. Freshman Melvin Johnson, once again shows its deadly touch, drilling 5 of 6 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 19 points in 14 minutes. The 6-foot-7, 280-pound Stepto ended the game with a drip screen, the "Escalade" And1 tour.

With 10 days off before their next game on December 18 at Pan Am, Thompson said he hopes to use the pause as an opportunity to make the best team I've ever coached at UTSA even better.

"I'm happy to be 7-2, but I think we can be better," he said. "I'm very proud. We are doing a lot of good things. When I'm hard on them, it is because of the small things, discipline little things we can do a really good team."

Full-Court Press: QandA with Ted DiBiase Jr.

Ted DiBiase Jr. is causing havoc in some capacity when World Wrestling Entertainment on the table, ladders and chairs "Pay-Per-View takes place at 7 pm on Sunday before another AT & T Center full people.

But that's not the kind of impact the former receiver wide and Mississippi College football player, actor and son of future WWE Hall of Famer Ted "Million Dollar Man" DiBiase expected long-term leave.

Like some of his colleagues traveled to Iraq to film the seventh installment of the WWE's annual "Salute to the Troops" (8 pm Dec. 19, NBC), DiBiase Jr., 27, spoke with me by phone last week:

Not being part of a family of third generation in particular is linked to the legacy of his father, has disadvantages?

Yeah, once people compare you to your father and grandfather. My Dad, the impact he made in this business. He will always be remembered as the man of a million dollars, one of the largest in the company, and paved the way for us young guys. But now is not so difficult to make a name for myself as it was earlier. I'm very proud of who I am and where I go, and challenge.

Talk about your first role in "The Marine 2" (direct to DVD on December 29).

I did all my tricks to jump ship except when it exploded. I begged and begged him to, but I understood. It would have seemed too good if I had flown. I did run through some Pyro and jumped out of buildings. I could not believe I have (on paper). Six months passed after my (first WWE). I reach the smaller part, and John Cena (main character of "The Marine") it would. After doing some scenes that were like, "How long have you been acting?" And I looked at my wife and was like, 'Well, about 15 minutes. I gave it my best shot, and called me a week later, and I got the part. But I do not know what part. I was like, 'Cool, I'm getting beat up or something? They said, 'No, you have the lead role. "Six weeks in Phuket, Thailand.

Is there extra pressure to ensure that the role of the military are presented accurately while you are trying to be the best player possible?

Yes Yes, I tried the best I could, because I appreciate so much - "appreciate" is not even a good word - but I very much appreciate what the men and women of our country, being away from his family for over a year at a time and risking their lives every day. I grew up hunting in Mississippi, so I'm pretty good with a gun, but I had to learn to keep a machine gun and replicate the exact way a Marine would be acting. Hopefully I did justice to them.

More difficult - the filming of a movie or wrestling in hell in a cell?

Ooh ... Ooh ... God. You know, I do not know, man. There is great pressure to be in a lead role in a film, especially when his first role, and you have to carry a movie. Then again, when you stand in front of (San Antonio), Shawn Michaels and Triple H in a cell - I have to say that balance.

Is it true that increasingly considered a minister?

Yes, I did. My dad's (Christian), Minister, and travels and talks. I've seen the impact it has had on so many people since leaving wrestling. What we do is entertainment, but outside the ring, I have a strong desire to make a difference with children. I am a bad guy on television, but once you know me, I think it's important for them to have models to admire.

Their toughest opponent and why?

Probably would have to say Shawn Michaels. Although a little older now, you can not underestimate him. He's still Mr. Wrestlemania, he remains "spectacular." Something happens when the bell rings. It's a strong little man. No es poco. It's feisty. I put my head on a chair, and needed stitches, and even disturbing. No practice (taking chair shots). You just hold it. You just hope the adrenaline flowing so that not even feel - until the next day.

Small business adviser

How do you understand my point of equilibrium important for my business?

Equilibrium analysis is a powerful tool for making business decisions and to conduct "what if" scenarios.

In the most basic level, your breakeven point is the level of sales at all costs (labor, rent, debt payments, cost of sales, etc.) are equal to their income. At present, there is no loss or gain, just covered its costs.

Breaking understanding, even for a home is important because it responds to questions near and dear to the heart of a new business owner: "When will I start showing a profit?" And "When can I start drawing a salary?"

For an existing business, we use equilibrium analysis to increase profits. You have four options to improve profitability:

• Sell more, or increase the volumes.

• Increase prices.

• Reduce your fixed expenses (rent, advertising, utilities, interest, wages).

• Reduce your variable costs - costs that increase with sales, such as commissions, inventory, raw.

For example, if you think hiring a new employee. You already have fixed costs of $ 200,000. The employee shall have a salary of $ 35,000. Their product costs $ 4 and sells for $ 5.50. How many units must sell to cover your original cost and the employee's salary?

• Fixed costs / contribution margin (selling price - cost) = breakeven point in units

• $ 235,000 / $ 1.50 = 156,667 units

If you want to make $ 20,000 in benefits, how many units will have to sell? If you offer a discount to boost sales, selling its product at $ 5, how many units will be sold to make the same $ 20,000? (See answers below.)

Now the question we face is, do they have the systems, equipment, etc, instead of producing that number of items or support the level of sales?

Equilibrium analysis helps the business owner understand the relationship between prices, volumes and costs, and is the key to the formation of a strategy to address the only thing we can always count on the business of change.
