Diane Sawyer Announces Last Week on 'Good

Diane Sawyer announced this morning that will end his 10 years as co-anchor of "ABC's" Good Morning America "week" of this. She will replace Charles Gibson as anchor of ABC World News "in January.

The move was announced in September, but the timing of when Sawyer would demanding GMA was unknown. Sawyer is estimated that hosted over 2,880 shows GMA.

No official announcements have been made on the replacement of Sawyer, but it is rumored that George Stephanopoulos, host of ABC's "This Week" on ABC and correspondent in Washington, will replace Sawyer on GMA.

Following the announcement of Sawyer in the air, her co-hosts promised to highlight some of their best moments this week.

Back in September, when the measure was officially announced, ABC News President David Westin praised Sawyer's career.

"Diane Sawyer is the right person to succeed Charlie and build on what has been achieved," Westin said in a statement. "She has an exceptional and varied career in television journalism, from its role as a correspondent in the State Department and continuing in 60 Minutes," "Primetime Live" and more recently 'Good Morning America. "

Saywa joined ABC in 1989 as co-anchor of "Primetime Live". Before joining ABC, she was the first woman to anchor the CBS "60 Minutes". He began his career in broadcasting in 1967 in Louisville, Kentucky

Gibson also left GMA to host "World News" back in 2006.
