Back Away From the Panic Button, Vikings Fans

December 7 marks the anniversary of that day in 1941 when America was attacked by Japan when that country beaten naval force at Pearl Harbor, a series of airstrikes that killed thousands. If you have ever had the opportunity to visit the monument that stands today at Pearl Harbor, is likely to be left with the feeling that the souls still live in Arizona.

That was a long time in one direction and another recently.

Our country still has enemies, and continue fighting the enemies. We continue to spend their lives and money in these fights, but the struggles go on seemingly endless, without the "victory". Tom Brokaw wrote a book about the older generation "which told the story of men and women who fought for this country on two fronts in what was undoubtedly one of the bloodiest of all wars that this country has suffered.

The resolution of our fighting men and women today seem to be on par with that of our ancestors, even though technology has advanced the war many times since. The change, if there has been a change, not in the quality of our young men and women in uniform.

The issue that stands out, however, is the determination of our ruling elite. Too often, it seems, we are headed into the fray just to see resolved in our country die away from the start. It is as if we, at this time of instant gratification and short attention spans, have lost the ability to stay the course until the job is done. Citizens recently lamented the loss of lives and the enormous effect that wars had on the economy. Bonds issued to civilians to purchase essential elements that armies and navies needed to continue the fight. The citizens moved to the vacant positions of industry and the country produced "Suzy the Riveter" as the result.

Today's leaders, for whatever reason, just do not seem to be able to resolve the long run. It may be that we as a country have lost that capacity. The news cycle of 24 hours may have accelerated the time to solve it decomposes. Our lives may have undermined many of our determination to persevere.

All this raises the question of how to react if we suffer another Pearl Harbor. Have we already answered that question by how we react to the Trade apart before our eyes? Is that the loss of thousands of souls less cowardly than was the loss of Pearl Harbor? Is this testimonial simply to the fact that we have become so interested in getting more of everything that we do not have time to defend our sovereignty?

Our leaders, much as we like to say otherwise, are a representative sample of us. The leaders we choose to represent who we are at those points in time. The people we see as we want to be drawing us towards the future are elected by popular vote. There are policy issues that the descriptions of cAll three teams have two things in common. The first is that they all went to the Super Bowl. Two of those three teams, the Giants and the Colts won the Super Bowl in those years. But that is the common thread that unites them. . . not for the purposes of this post, at least.

Each of these three teams went to represent their conference in the biggest game of the year. . . and each had a final game of the season where they got their collective butts handed to them so that people did think the contestants if they were legitimate or not.

Remember travel from Minnesota to Arizona last season? Tarvaris Jackson threw four touchdown passes, Adrian Peterson ran wild, and the Vikings blasted the Cardinals to the tune of 35-14. . . and was not even the worst defeat suffered by the Cardinals this month, they left the next week against the New England Patriots and has a hammer by a score of 47-7. But, here are five weeks after the loss to the Patriots, they were there, representing the NFC in the Super Bowl, and two minutes from winning the whole ball of wax.

Star-gap

And the 2007 Giants? Will the Vikings travel to Giants Stadium this year it sounds like someone? Entering the game without Adrian Peterson, the Vikings have a 60-yard touchdown Jackson to Sidney Rice on the second play from scrimmage, Eli Manning intercepted four times (three of them returned for touchdowns), and strangles the Giants 41 -- 17. But the Giants just went ahead despite the blast, and a couple of months later they went to the Super Bowl and derailed what would have been the only 19-0 season in NFL history by knocking off the Patriots. In 2007 the Vikings? 8-8, and watching the playoffs from home.

In 2006 the Colts? At week 14, lined up against their division rival Jacksonville. . . and was defeated in every way imaginable. The Colts allowed 375 rushing yards. . . Yes, three hundred seventy-five yards allowed on the floor. . . beat on the way to a 44-17 by the Jaguars. And it's not as if the Colts starters were resting at that point or anything. . . Peyton Manning threw 50 passes (without notes), but allowed the Colts Maurice Jones-Drew to the wound for 166 yards and two touchdowns, and Fred Taylor helped another 131 yards and a touchdown. Even something called Alvin Pearman pitched in 71 yards and a touchdown. But again, on the first Sunday in February, Manning and company had with the Lombardi Trophy aloft and telling everyone they were going to Disney World. The Jaguars finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs.

Yes, the Vikings are handled at night, the Cardinals past, and everybody saw it. The Cardinals are, in my opinion, the best Minnesota team has seen all season, and played like it. However, even with the loss of the Cardinals, the Vikings are 10-2 on the year. . . the only two teams with better records are from New Orleans and Indianapolis. That is very very good. Their remaining schedule is not very threatening way, and still have a two-game lead on everyone in the National Conference for the rest of the conference break in the first round of the postseason party. . . a party that will, no doubt, to attend. I'll admit that we will not lodge here, but still a first round would be fine.

Even after night, the Minnesota Vikings are one of the best teams in the NFL. There are four regular-season games and hopefully a first round of the Vikings to solve this problem. Hopefully Antoine Winfield will be back soon. . . if available and if we see the Cardinals again, I think things might be a little different. . . and the Vikings can get back to what they do best, which gets rid of the opposition and win football matches.

A loss, no matter how big or seemingly one-sided, is cause for panic. Anoche no shots for the Cardinals is an exception to that rule. The bigger story is the loss of linebacker EJ Henderson, and is expected to have some news on him later today. As soon as you hear nothing, we will let everyone know.mmonly used parts, covering, so this is a broader issue than just one or another political party.

How are between generations, when someone new year in the way the question of our generation? Are we going to be classified as among the "greatest generations"? I'm afraid the answer may disappoint, but of course only our descendants still loaded with what our shortcomings might have been, why bother even the question?
